Royal Army Loses to Young Africans in CAF Champions League
Sunday 07-12-2025
Royal Army suffered a 1-0 defeat against their hosts Young Africans from Tanzania in the match held today, Saturday, at Amani Stadium in Zanzibar, as part of the first round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Tanzanian team scored the only goal of the match in the 58th minute through striker Prince Dube, who took advantage of defensive confusion inside the penalty area to send the ball into the net past goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti.

Young Africans dominated for long periods of the match and threatened Royal Army’s goal with several dangerous opportunities, if not for Tagnaouti’s brilliance who saved his team from certain goals with decisive interventions that kept hope alive until the final minutes.

Despite the military team’s improved performance at times and their attempts to equalize, the lack of the final touch prevented them from changing the score, in addition to a goal that appeared legitimate being disallowed for offside, which sparked protests from the Moroccan team’s bench.

With this loss, Royal Army starts their group stage campaign with a negative result away from home, awaiting the highly anticipated second round match against Egypt’s Al Ahly. On the other hand, Young Africans earned their first three points in their continental journey this season.
