Benzema Reveals What Real Madrid is Missing
French star Karim Benzema, former player of Al-Ittihad Saudi Club and Real Madrid, revealed what Real Madrid is currently lacking under the leadership of coach Xabi Alonso.
Benzema said in an interview with AS newspaper: "What is Real Madrid currently lacking? There will be matches where Mbappé won't touch the ball. What we expect from Kylian is that when he gets a chance, he scores. That is Real Madrid."
He added: "Mbappé is in better shape now; scoring goals is nothing new for him. He was doing it at Paris Saint-Germain, and he will score even more at Real Madrid."
He added: "I believe that Vinicius, Mbappé, and Rodrygo, although he doesn't play much, and Bellingham... they need to communicate with each other—one scores, another assists. We can't ask Bellingham to score because that's Mbappé's role; nor can we ask Mbappé to be the number 10 because that's Bellingham's role. They need to talk; the situation will improve. But Bellingham must focus more in the moments when Real Madrid needs him because he has everything to do so."
He concluded: "Doesn't it seem strange to you that players are now being evaluated based on how much they run? Do you understand that? It depends. Running when you should run, when it's necessary. Because when you score goals, no one talks about running—running at the right moment. I scored goals after intercepting the ball from opponents; that's extra work. I didn't run a lot, but I do it because I know what Real Madrid is, and I know when the moment is, like in a Champions League match. It's not just about goals. The goals I scored against Paris after pressing are small details that help the team. I believe Mbappé will do the same."
