Mohamed El-Shenawy, the goalkeeper of Al Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, apologized to head coach Hossam Hassan after protesting his substitution in the final moments of the match against Cape Verde. This was during the third-place playoff of the Al Ain International Tournament, which the Pharaohs won 2-0 on penalties after the regular time ended in a 1-1 draw.

Hossam Hassan had decided to bring on Mostafa Shobeir in the final minute in preparation for the penalty shootout, which momentarily upset El-Shenawy, before he apologized to the national coach after the match.

According to the website "Cairo 24," El-Shenawy approached Hossam Hassan, shook his hand, and kissed his head, emphasizing that his objection was not to the technical decision but rather a desire to continue the match until its end.

Hossam Hassan understood the position of the international goalkeeper and accepted his apology, leading to a friendly resolution within the national team camp.

The Egyptian national team had lost their first match in the tournament against Uzbekistan with a 2-0 score at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
