A report issued by the Spanish Observatory for Combating Racism and Xenophobia, and reported by the Spanish newspaper 'Marca,' revealed the top figures and sports clubs subjected to hate speech on social media platforms in Spain, highlighting an increase in racially charged insults within sports content.

The report confirmed that Barcelona player Lamine Yamal is the most subjected to insults, accounting for 60% of the abusive discourse, including racist remarks related to his skin color and origins. According to Thomas Fernandez, the director of the observatory, these insults reflect prejudices targeting the player because of his appearance and background.

Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior comes in second place with 29% of the insults, followed by Kylian Mbappe with 3%. The report also included other players such as Nico Williams, Inaki Williams, Balde, and Brahim Diaz, who received about 2% of this hostile discourse.

At the club level, Real Madrid topped the list of the most hated teams with 34%, followed by Barcelona in second place with 32%, then Valladolid with 17%. Valencia clubs followed with 8%, Athletic Bilbao with 6%, Real Sociedad with 5%, and Atlético Madrid with 4%.

The observatory, as reported by the newspaper Marca, indicated that what is happening in the football world reflects the state of society. Many messages on social networks contain offensive and hostile language that could transition from the digital world to reality and lead to actual assaults.

The report also revealed the most notable insults recorded during the El Clásico, which included serious racist remarks.
