Nagelsmann Clarifies His Stance on Relying on Baumann in the World Cup
Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of the German national team, explained his position on the possibility of Oliver Baumann starting in the World Cup.
The 35-year-old Hoffenheim goalkeeper is currently the main goalkeeper in the absence of the injured Marc-André ter Stegen and following the retirement of Manuel Neuer, who is rumored to possibly come out of retirement.
Nagelsmann said on the matter: "It depends on many factors. I am very pleased with Oliver, but the decision is not mine alone. I also have specialized goalkeeping coaches. We make the decision together."
He continued, "Oliver is playing brilliantly at the moment, and I am very satisfied with him. However, the decision depends on many factors."
