Al-Ahli Moves Early to Decide the Future of Edouard Mendy
Monday 17-11-2025
The management of Al-Ahli Saudi, headed by Dr. Khaled Al-Ghamdi, has begun taking practical steps to open the file for renewing the contract of the Senegalese goalkeeper and team captain, Edouard Mendy, as he approaches the start of his free agency period in the upcoming January.

In recent days, the management has begun communicating with the goalkeeper's agent to understand his demands and initial intentions before moving on to the official negotiation stage, especially since his current contract expires at the end of next summer.

Mendy showed initial acceptance of staying in Jeddah, confirming that he has no objection to extending his contract, given his sense of stability and ongoing involvement under the leadership of the German coach Matthias Jaissle, according to Al-Riyadiyah newspaper.

Negotiation procedures are expected to accelerate after the international break ends and the player returns from his commitments with his national team, as the management will discuss the details of the new contract, including the annual salary and contract duration.

Al Ahly had secured the services of Mendy in the summer of 2023, coming from Chelsea on a contract lasting three seasons, making the current season his last before officially entering the free agency period.

The club management aims to finalize the matter before January to ensure the continued presence of the veteran goalkeeper, who is one of the key defensive pillars of the team in the Roshn Saudi League competitions.
