The Truth About Pérez Resigning from the Presidency of Real Madrid

Saturday 15-11-2025
Recent media and journalistic reports have emerged suggesting the possibility of Florentino Pérez leaving the presidency of Real Madrid in 2026, but COPE radio confirmed that this information is unfounded and that the 78-year-old president is not considering leaving his position or the club mid-term.

According to the source, Pérez intends to continue leading the club until the end of his current term in 2029, and perhaps even longer, as he does not plan to leave his position before completing his major projects such as the Super League project and the final development of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Florentino Pérez first took the presidency of Real Madrid in 2000 after defeating Lorenzo Sanz in a close election, and he managed to renew his victory in the 2004 elections against Sanz and Arturo Baldasano, before unexpectedly resigning in March 2006.

Pérez returned to the presidency in 2009 unopposed, a scenario that was repeated in the elections of 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025, granting him a long continuity in leading the club until 2029, a term he intends to complete fully at the very least.

Pérez always emphasizes that his primary goal is to maintain Real Madrid's status as the largest club in the world and to continue working on the major strategic projects that will determine the club's future both sporting and economically.
