The club hopes to obtain license 1B, which allows the stadium to open with a capacity of up to 45,000 spectators, a capacity that ensures higher revenues than the Montjuïc stadium.
The decision was expected to be announced on Friday, but it was postponed to Monday following a new meeting between the technicians at the Barcelona city council. If the license is granted, the club will notify La Liga for final approval to host the match against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, November 22, at Camp Nou.
If the approvals are not completed before the match date, the club will postpone the return by an additional week, targeting to play against Deportivo Alavés on Saturday, November 29, at the new stadium.
It is worth noting that Barcelona conducted an initial readiness test for the stadium on November 7 through an open training session attended by 23,000 fans, in a step considered a preparation for the anticipated official return.
