Wednesday 17-12-2025
The Portuguese full-back João Cancelo expressed his desire to return to European football, despite being under contract with Saudi club Al Hilal until 2027, during a conversation at the Portuguese national team's training camp, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

Cancelo, who is 31 years old, moved to Al Hilal two seasons ago, but he confirmed that he still dreams of playing in Europe again, saying: "Of course, I dream of returning to play in Europe. I still have one year left on my contract with Al Hilal, but I am open to the idea of returning. The future will reveal what will happen."

The international player added that the Saudi league has seen significant development since his joining, noting that the level of the teams has improved greatly and there is now more quality.

Despite his long contract with Al Hilal, Cancelo continues to deliver impressive performances, earning him a new spot on the Portugal national team roster for the matches against Ireland and Armenia this November.

According to the newspaper, Cancelo's statements are a clear indication of his desire to return to the European continent, especially with the winter transfer market approaching, after a successful career spent with major clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.
