The Real Betis Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Joaquín Sánchez, the former star of the Andalusian team, as the new manager, as announced by the club in an official statement on this matter today, Tuesday.
The statement said: "Since his retirement in 2023, Joaquín Sánchez has expressed his desire to contribute his experience and knowledge to Real Betis after more than two decades in the elite of professional football."
He continued: "After this period, the former leader accepted the responsibility of being part of the board of directors, and for this reason, he will enhance the work he has done in these seasons, with a direct connection to the sports field."
Joaquín is one of the most important football players in the history of Real Betis. Wearing his green and white jersey, he won the cup championship twice, in 2005 and 2022. Moreover, he is the player with the most appearances for Betis. Overall, he has played 528 matches with the green and white first team, divided into two phases: the first between 2000 and 2006, and the second between 2015 and 2023.
