Conte criticizes Napoli players after defeat to Bologna
Wednesday 10-12-2025
The head coach of Napoli, Antonio Conte, expressed his deep anger following the 2-0 loss to Bologna in the match held as part of the Italian league, emphasizing that his team no longer possesses the positive energy it had last season.

Conte said, "Bologna was more lively in every aspect. It's sad to say that they were hungrier and more enthusiastic than us, and that's what is most disappointing and makes us reflect. This is our fifth defeat since the start of the season, and we need to take a moment to think about that."

He added, "We must not forget that Bologna played on Thursday, yet they were very enthusiastic. We performed at a minimum level when the match was balanced, but then our performance completely collapsed afterward. We need a different energy than what I have seen since the beginning of the season."

The Italian coach defended his striker Rasmus Hojlund despite the criticism directed at him, stating: "I wasn't bothered by Hojlund's performance today; in fact, I believe he was our best player. He fought fiercely and attacked the spaces, and you can't evaluate a striker solely based on goals. He needed more support from his teammates."

Conte pointed out that the team is facing a clear scoring crisis, saying: "Not scoring in three consecutive matches is very concerning. We cannot justify everything with injuries, even though some key players are missing. We need to find solutions within the team."

Napoli's coach concluded his remarks by saying: "I am worried, and I cannot deny that. What we did last season was exceptional, but this is a different year. The energy within the team has changed, and I don't feel the same excitement. If I haven't been able to change this situation over the past few months, then either I'm not doing my job well, or there are those who don't want to listen to me."
