The club did not exercise the option to extend Sancho's contract to avoid paying a high weekly salary of up to 200,000 euros, after he played 83 matches and was directly involved in only 18 goals. Sancho is currently playing on loan at Aston Villa under the management of Unai Emery, in an attempt to revive his career.
