Barcelona Seeks New Left Winger to Strengthen Squad
Sunday 09-11-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Barcelona's management is looking for a new left winger to strengthen the team's lineup for the upcoming season, especially with Lamine Yamal and Rony Bardhi performing exceptionally well on the right side.

The newspaper reported that the Catalan club is currently considering the possibility of activating the purchase option in the loan contract for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, despite the player's high salary. It noted that the English club has set the selling price at 30 million euros, which could represent an important future deal for Barcelona.

At the same time, Barcelona is monitoring a number of young European talents, among them is Malick Thiaw, a 20-year-old winger from Olympique Lyonnais, who has caught the attention of the club's scouts. Lyon signed the player over a year ago from Belgian club Gent for €19.5 million, with a contract that runs until June 2028.

Sport added that Barcelona has already contacted Fofana's agents to explore the possibility of signing him, especially given the financial crisis that Lyon is experiencing, which may force them to sell their star next summer.

The newspaper indicated that Liverpool and Arsenal have also shown interest in signing Fofana, who is known for his skill and high speed. Although he plays with his right foot, his preferred position is left winger, while he is also capable of playing on the right side.

Fofana participated this season in 12 matches in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, totaling 888 minutes, during which he scored two goals and provided one assist. His current market value is 30 million euros.
