Inter Milan Coach Praises Technical Staff After Hard-Fought Win
Sunday 02-11-2025
The head coach of Inter Milan, Cristian Kivu, praised his team's technical staff following the hard-fought victory against Hellas Verona with a score of 2-1 on Sunday evening at the Marc Antonio Bentegodi Stadium, in the 11th round of the Italian league.

Inter took the lead with a stunning goal from Zielinski from a volley after an innovative corner taken by Hakan Çalhanoğlu, before Giovanni equalized for Verona. In the dying moments, defender Martin Friz recorded an own goal in the 94th minute, giving the Nerazzurri three valuable points.

The coach said after the match: "I celebrated a lot and slipped on the ground, I completely ruined my suit, and now I’m wearing a training suit, and the sponsors are a bit angry!".

He added: "Such matches are easier to lose than to win, so when you triumph in this way, you have to celebrate because things could have gone the other way."

The Romanian coach revealed that the corner kick plan from which Zielinski scored was the idea of his assistant Angelo Palumbo, saying: "Honestly, I was against executing it! Because if we lost the ball, they could have attacked us quickly. But when you have players like Çalhanoğlu who places the ball where he wants, and Zielinski with this quality, it is natural to try new things. All the credit goes to Palumbo and the rest of the technical staff."

He responded to criticism that said Inter regressed after the first goal: "We did not retreat; we were ahead, and they had to take risks. We had two clear chances."

He concluded: "Lautaro didn't score this week, but he did against Saint-Gilloise; there’s no need to worry. Lautaro is a true leader, works hard, and gives everything for the team. Playing every three days is not easy, but he is always an example of commitment and giving."
