Italian Competition for Signing Morten Frendrup
Italian media reports have revealed that Inter Milan and Roma have entered into a fierce competition to sign Genoa midfielder, Danish player Morten Frendrup, during the upcoming winter transfer window in January 2026, according to the website "Football Italia".
The report clarified that Inter Milan renewed its interest in signing Frendrup after being close to securing a deal with him last summer, before opting to sign player Andy Diouf. However, the latter has only played 26 minutes this season under coach Cristian Kivu, which has prompted the club to consider loaning him out next winter in order to sign a more ready and faster midfielder.
The website pointed out that Inter's management will need to part ways with one of their current midfielders if they want to sign Frendrup, as both Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi are among the options being considered for departure.
On the other hand, the report confirmed that AS Roma has already inquired about the potential deal for signing the player, as they seek to strengthen their squad in preparation for the second half of the season.
The same source added that Roma's management is considering selling one or two of their stars for financial reasons by the end of the season, while Frendrup has expressed his willingness to move either to Milan or Rome, should either club reach an agreement with Genoa.
