Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press statement after the elimination from the fourth round of the League Cup following a 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The coach said in his remarks: "There are many reasons to talk about, but in truth, there is no sufficient justification for us losing five out of the last six matches. This is simply unacceptable."

Slot explained that the pressure of matches had a clear impact on the team's performance: "In recent weeks, we have been playing just two days after tough matches in Europe, and this has taken its toll on the players."

He added: "If you look at next week, you will see that it is a big week for us and for the club. We need as many ready players as possible. The lineup I fielded today shows that we are indeed suffering from some injuries, and I had to rest those who participated in the recent matches."

He concluded: "Liverpool always gives academy players a chance in the League Cup, and our team is not as large as some may think. Our approach to the tournament has not changed."
