During the match, head coach Xabi Alonso substituted Vinicius in the 72nd minute, allowing his compatriot Rodrygo to enter the game. The Brazilian player clearly expressed his discontent with the decision, as he left the pitch immediately heading to the locker room without sitting on the bench.
