Sousse Star Bids Farewell to African Confederation Cup Against Nairobi United in Penalties
Sousse Star Sports Club has exited the African Confederation Cup from the second preliminary round after losing to Kenyan side Nairobi United in a penalty shootout (6-7) during the match held on Sunday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Sousse.
The Tunisian team had lost the first leg in Nairobi with a score of (2-0), before managing to equalize in the return leg with the same score, thanks to goals from Ryan Anan in the 50th minute and Ghufran Al-Nawali in the 90+7th minute, leading both teams to a penalty shootout where luck smiled on the Kenyan representative.
With this result, Sousse Star will miss the group stage of the continental competition, marking a disappointing season for Tunisian football, as the Tunisian Stadium also exited on Saturday against Moroccan Olympic Safi, despite winning the return leg (2-1) after losing the first leg (0-2).
This marks a double farewell, and Tunisian representation will officially be absent from the group stage of the African Confederation Cup this season.
