Al-Hilal Renews Contract with Midfielder Savic Until 2028
Saudi Al-Hilal Club has completed its agreement with Serbian star Sergej Savic to officially extend his contract for an additional two seasons, allowing him to continue his distinguished journey in the "Blue Leader" jersey until the summer of 2028.
The club announced through its official accounts on Sunday evening the signing of the new contract with Savic after a series of successful negotiations that secured his continuation, despite significant interest from Juventus and Chelsea to sign him for free after his previous contract expires in 2026.
This step is part of the Al-Hilal administration's plan to maintain the team's technical stability, especially given the strong understanding between Savic and his Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, who has been leading the club's new sports project since last summer.
Savic joined Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 from Italian Lazio, while Inzaghi took over the team's coaching in June 2025, just days before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, in which Al-Hilal reached the quarter-finals in a remarkable achievement.
Inzaghi is considered the coach closest to Savic on a technical level, as they worked together for many years at Lazio between 2015 and 2021, where the player played under his leadership in over 229 matches, scoring 46 goals and providing 40 assists, which is the best tally of his career.
During that period, the duo won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup twice, before reuniting at Al-Hilal to continue the same success, with great ambitions to lead the team to more local and continental titles until 2028.
