The Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, revealed the details of the negotiations that took place between him and the Saudi club Al Hilal during the last summer transfer window, confirming that he consulted his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo before making his final decision.

Fernandes explained in an interview with the British network 'The Athletic' that he spoke with Ronaldo about the lifestyle in Saudi Arabia and the level of football there, noting that the latter gave him important advice that helped him think about his football future.

The 31-year-old Portuguese star added: 'Ronaldo shared his experience in Saudi Arabia with me, but in the end, the decision was solely mine; I am the one who determines my next destination.'

Fernandes confirmed that Al Hilal was not the only club interested in his services, as he received offers from European clubs and other Saudi clubs, but he preferred to delay the decision until after the 2026 World Cup.

The Manchester United captain revealed the reason for rejecting Al Hilal's offer, stating that coach Ruben Amorim asked him to stay within the team's project, explaining that the club's management was not compelled to sell him for financial gains.

Fernandes concluded his remarks by emphasizing his great respect for Al Hilal's officials, adding: 'I know that their offer was huge and very tempting, and they might not have been happy with my decision, but I chose what I saw as best for my career.'
