Flick Misses Press Conference Before El Clásico
Friday 24-10-2025
Barcelona continues its preparations to face Real Madrid in El Clásico, but without head coach Hans Flick at the press conference for the match, due to a suspension penalty, as confirmed by the Spanish newspaper "Sport".

The newspaper clarified that Flick will miss the press conference scheduled for Saturday afternoon, with his assistant Markus Sorg taking over the task of speaking to the media before the highly anticipated match against Real Madrid. Despite the penalty, Flick will lead the team's training session as usual, while Sorg will represent the coaching staff before the press.

The absence of the German coach is a result of a one-match suspension following his sending off with a second yellow card during the last match against Girona. The newspaper noted that the appeals submitted by Barcelona to the competitions committee and then to the appeals committee were not accepted, with the last hope remaining in the Administrative Court of Sport, which could grant a temporary suspension of the penalty.

The newspaper added that Barcelona's management is still angry about referee Gil Manzano's decision to send off Flick, considering it excessive. Nevertheless, the club continues its legal efforts to allow the coach the opportunity to be on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, even if he has to serve the penalty later.

Barcelona hopes until the last moment that Flick will be able to lead the team on the field in the anticipated El Clásico.
