De Jong Raises Concern in Barcelona Ahead of El Clasico
Thursday 23-10-2025
Spanish newspaper 'Sport' reported that FC Barcelona is facing a state of concern days before facing Real Madrid in El Clasico, after Dutch player Frenkie de Jong missed team training due to a sudden health issue.

The newspaper explained that De Jong was unable to participate in training on Thursday, while Andreas Christensen also missed out due to an intestinal problem, which is the same injury that kept him from playing against Olympiacos in the Champions League.

The newspaper added that the coaching staff led by Hans Flick had received positive news earlier in the week with the return of the duo Ferran Torres and Raphinha to training normally, as they appear ready to participate in the anticipated El Clasico.

The report confirmed that the confirmed absences in Barcelona's squad include Marc-André ter Stegen, Juan Garcia, Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, and Dani Olmo, while the medical staff will monitor the development of De Jong and Christensen's conditions to determine their availability for the match.

Additionally, De Jong's potential absence may lead coach Hans Flick to rely on Marc Casado in midfield, which is the same option he used against Olympiacos when the Dutch player came on as a substitute in the second half.
