
Yamal Continues to Make History with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League
The young Spanish star Lamine Yamal has made his name once again in the records of UEFA Champions League history, after his remarkable performance during the match between Barcelona and Olympiacos, in the third round of the group stage.
Yamal succeeded in assisting his teammate Fermín López for the first goal in the seventh minute, before scoring the third goal of the match from a penalty in the 68th minute, continuing his amazing performance in the competition.
According to the statistics network "Opta", Lamine Yamal, who is only 18 years and 100 days old, has become the second youngest player to score a penalty in UEFA Champions League history, after Bojan Krkić who scored for Barcelona against Sporting Lisbon in November 2008 at the age of 18 years and 90 days.
Opta also clarified that the match witnessed another achievement, as Lamine Yamal and Drew Fernandez became the first players under the age of 19 to provide assists in a single UEFA Champions League match for the second time in history, after Ajax's duo Nwankwo Kanu and Patrick Kluivert against Bayern Munich in April 1995.
