Spanish radio station 'Cadena SER' reported that Real Madrid has submitted an official request to the South American Football Confederation 'CONCACAF' to prevent the match between Villarreal and Barcelona from taking place in Miami, USA.

Reports indicate that many clubs in La Liga, along with the players' association, oppose holding any official matches outside of Spanish territory, considering that this decision distorts the integrity of the competition and affects the principle of equal opportunities among teams.

The match between Barcelona and Villarreal is scheduled to take place in Miami on December 20 as part of the seventeenth round of La Liga.

During the ninth round of La Liga, players from all teams staged a symbolic pause of 10 to 15 seconds at the beginning of the matches in protest against the decision to move the match abroad.

The Spanish players' union had proposed to the league to advance the meeting of the joint committee for the collective labor agreement from Friday, December 24, to Wednesday, December 22, in order to discuss the relocation of the match to the United States.
