Mariska Reveals Latest Updates on Chelsea Ahead of Ajax Match
Tuesday 21-10-2025
Chelsea's coach, Enzo Mariska, revealed the latest updates regarding the players before the match against Ajax tomorrow in the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge, confirming that his team aims to build on the momentum of their recent 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Regarding Enzo Fernandez, Mariska said: "Enzo participated in yesterday's training session, we have another training session this afternoon, and then we will decide what to do with him for tomorrow's match."

He added: "As I mentioned before the Forest match, the injury was not a major concern, it was just about trying to protect Enzo and any other players we need to safeguard."

In response to a question about player Liam Delap, who has been out since August due to a hamstring injury, Mariska said: "Liam is very close to returning, he hasn't started working with us yet, he is still out of the team, but we hope that in the coming days he will start participating in training sessions with us."

Mariska clarified that he would have to make at least one change to the lineup that started against Nottingham Forest, as Joao Pedro will be absent due to suspension after receiving a red card in the match against Benfica.

Regarding the team's attacking options for the Ajax match, Mariska said: "We have different options, and we will decide after the training session who will start the match."

He added: "We have Mark Guio, and we also have Terik George, who has previously played in the number 9 position and performed well in that role before, like in the Benfica match."

Mariska confirmed: "We trust Mark, and we trusted him last season as he always played and trained with confidence. We gave him some minutes in the Premier League, and that shows our confidence in him. Now he is with us after being recalled from loan, and he will definitely participate in the matches."
