Klopp Reveals Reason for Rejecting Manchester United Coaching Job
Tuesday 21-10-2025
The German coach Jurgen Klopp revealed that he had discussions with the management of Manchester United in 2013 to take over the team following the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, but ultimately decided to reject the offer due to a difference in vision and the sports project.

Klopp said in his talk: "During the meetings with United, I heard things that I didn't like... They told me: 'We will get all the players you want, we will bring this one and that one.' But I was sitting there thinking to myself: this is not my project."

He added: "I didn't want to bring back Paul Pogba, these things won't work! And I didn't want Cristiano Ronaldo to return, that wouldn't be useful... Their idea revolved around signing the best players only, but they didn't talk about football."

Klopp concluded his talk by saying: "After that, a real football project appeared in front of me... Liverpool."

Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015, leading the team into a historic era that lasted nine years, during which he achieved many titles, most notably the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.
