Klopp Reveals Details of His Failed Negotiation with Manchester United
The German coach Jürgen Klopp revealed details of his negotiations with Manchester United to take over as head coach earlier.
Klopp stated: "They approached me after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. But the timing was not right, and I had a contract with Dortmund. But above all this... I did not like the project they presented to me."
He added: "During the meetings, they told me things I didn't like, we will bring all the players you want... this and that... and I was sitting there thinking to myself: yes, this is not the type of project I am looking for."
He continued: "I didn't want to bring back Paul Pogba! These things don’t work! And I didn't want to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo, that wouldn't help! Their idea was to bring the best players to the club, but without any real football vision."
He concluded: "In the end, a pure football project appeared in front of me... with Liverpool."
