Referee for Barcelona vs. Olympiacos in the Champions League
UEFA has announced the appointment of Swiss referee Urs Schneider to officiate the match between Barcelona and Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League, scheduled for Tuesday at 7:45 PM Cairo time at Montjuïc Stadium.
Schneider is 39 years old and has been an international referee since 2018, possessing ten years of experience in the top tier of the Swiss league. This season, Schneider has officiated five matches in European competitions, including one group stage match in the Champions League, another in the Europa League qualifiers, as well as two rounds in the preliminary stage of the Europa Conference League.
This match will be the first time Schneider has officiated a Barcelona game in European competitions, and he has a limited record with Spanish clubs, having officiated previous matches with Girona and Real Betis, in addition to youth league matches with Sevilla and the French U17 national team.
This match will also be the second time he officiates a game for a Greek team, following the match between Olympiacos and Atromitos in the 2019/2020 season, and Swiss referee Vidai San will be responsible for the video assistant referee (VAR) technology.
