Spanish radio station "COPE" reported that La Liga clubs are considering a symbolic protest during the matches of the ninth round of the league, in objection to the decision to hold the Villarreal vs Barcelona match in Miami, USA.
According to the report, leaders of the twenty clubs are discussing a proposal to delay the start of all matches in the round by 20 to 30 seconds, if a collective agreement is reached, to express their rejection of holding official matches outside Spanish territory.
The Spanish league had previously announced the holding of the Barcelona vs Villarreal match in Miami on December 20, as part of the seventeenth round of the league.
La Liga had received temporary approval from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which emphasized the need for local competitions to remain within the borders of each country.
