Shelvey Explains His Move from Premier League to Third Division in UAE
The Englishman Jonjo Shelvey, former midfielder for Newcastle, justified his strange transfer from Burnley to the Al-Suqoor Al-Arabia club in the third division in the UAE.
Shelvey said: "I don't want my children to grow up in England; you can't wear a watch there or even take out your phone in London [due to theft]."
He continued: "Some say I went for the money; there isn't much money here in the third division of the UAE. My salary is only 2000 pounds a month."
He concluded: "This is not something significant; it’s never about the money."
