Reda Abdel Aal Criticizes Hossam Hassan

Tuesday 14-10-2025
Reda Abdel Aal, the former Egyptian football star, criticized Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, for his selections for the national team in recent camps.

Reda Abdel Aal confirmed that Hossam Hassan has a strong desire to coach Al Ahly, which has influenced his selections for the national team.

Reda Abdel Aal added in statements during the "Al-Breemo" program on "Ten" channel: "Hossam Hassan's choices for the squad in every camp include a large number of Al Ahly players, whether the player is regularly participating with the team or not. The evidence for this is the inclusion of Mustafa Shobeir in the Pharaohs' squad before the matches against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau in the ninth and tenth rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, despite him not participating in recent league matches with Al Ahly. Ahmed El-Shenawy, the goalkeeper of Pyramids FC, should have been included instead of him."

He continued: "Ahmed El-Shenawy, the Pyramids goalkeeper, deserved to be in the national team list in the last camp, especially after his outstanding performance this season, particularly in the match against Al Ahli Jeddah in the Intercontinental Cup, and also in the match against the Rwandan army in the African Champions League. However, he was not included in the squad due to previous disagreements with the Hassan twins during their coaching period at Pyramids. This is unacceptable, as the national team is not a place for settling scores; any player who works hard and performs well with his team must be included."
