Exclusion of Liao from the Portuguese National Team Camp
Monday 13-10-2025
The Portuguese Football Federation announced that Rafael Liao, a player for AC Milan, has withdrawn from the national team camp and will not participate in the match against Hungary scheduled for Tuesday evening, as part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The federation stated: "Rafael Liao has been excluded from the Portuguese national team and will not participate in the match against Hungary."

Liao is still in the recovery phase from a muscle injury in his calf that he sustained during Milan's 2-0 victory over Bari in the Coppa Italia last August, an injury that has kept him out of the starting lineup both with his club and the national team since the beginning of the season.

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via Sky Sport Italia, the 26-year-old player will return to Milan to continue his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club's medical staff.

Liao hopes to return to the starting lineup for Milan in the upcoming match against Fiorentina scheduled for next Sunday in the Italian league.
