The match between the Iraqi national team and Indonesia at the start of the team's journey in the Asian qualifying playoff for the 2026 World Cup saw the Black Lions of Mesopotamia win with a single goal scored by Zidane Iqbal in the 76th minute, granting the team an important victory in their difficult path.

Despite the win, Iraqi fans expressed their concern about the performance of some players, specifically Bashar Resan, Sherko Karim, and Ibrahim Baish, who did not show the required level. This is attributed to three main reasons:

A long time has passed since Bashar Resan's last participation, with the previous match against Indonesia in June 2024 during the double Asian qualifiers being his last appearance. 

Although he was included in Iraq's squad for the friendly King of Thailand Cup, he did not participate due to injury, which made his return to such a crucial match extremely challenging.

Player Sherko Karim is also suffering from a change in playing position compared to his usual role in the Iraqi national team. 

In recent years, he has been accustomed to playing as a right-back, even though he plays as a forward with his team Zakho, where he has scored many goals. With the national team, coach Graham Arnold pushed him to play in attack alongside Mohanad Ali, creating a new challenge for the player, who is not used to performing in this position.

Player Ibrahim Baish appeared fatigued during the match due to the numerous tasks assigned to him by the coaching staff, utilizing his physical abilities and technical skills in the right wing position. 

This hindered him from executing some plays as required, despite his brilliance with his team Al-Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, as his performance style differs between the club and the national team.

In conclusion, Iraqi fans expressed their dissatisfaction with some players for not performing at the appropriate level in a decisive match and awaited them to improve their performance before the upcoming confrontation against the Saudi national team, which will be crucial in determining the fate of the Iraqi national team in the Asian playoff.
