Wydad Sets Travel Date to Ghana in Preparation for Match Against Kotoko in Confederation Cup
Sunday 12-10-2025
Wydad Athletic Club has finalized its decision regarding the team's trip to the Ghanaian capital, Accra, in preparation for the anticipated match against Ashanti Kotoko, as part of the first leg of the second preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup.

According to media reports, Wydad's technical staff decided to move the travel date to next Wednesday instead of Thursday, in order to give the players enough time to acclimate to the hot weather and high humidity characteristic of the Ghanaian capital, compared to the moderate conditions in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had rejected the request submitted by Ashanti Kotoko to host the match at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, after it was found to not meet the required technical and performance standards for hosting continental competitions.

Based on CAF's decision, the match has been moved to the national stadium in Accra, where it will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, starting at 3 PM local time (2 PM Moroccan time).

Wydad hopes to achieve a positive result away from home before playing the return match in Casablanca, which will determine the team that qualifies for the group stage of the African Confederation Cup.
