Continuation of Mohammed V Stadium Opening for Wydad and Raja Until Next International Break
The decision came after a meeting chaired by the governor of the Casablanca-Settat region, attended by officials from the sports sector, where it was confirmed that the stadium is ready to host official matches, with major maintenance work to be initiated later in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
Abdel Salam Belkchour, president of the National Professional Football League, stated in radio comments that the ongoing works are part of the routine maintenance of the playing surface, and not part of a comprehensive renovation project, which has allowed for its continued use at this stage.
Under this decision, the Wydad and Raja derby will return to its historic venue “Donor”, and the stadium will also host the match between Wydad and Ghana's Asante Kotoko in the playoff round of the African Confederation Cup, in an atmosphere expected to attract a large crowd.
