Upamecano Hinders Renewal Negotiations with Bayern Munich
Sunday 12-10-2025
Spanish newspaper 'AS' reported that the future of French defender Dayot Upamecano with Bayern Munich remains uncertain, as negotiations to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season, have stalled due to the player's insistence on high financial demands.

The newspaper explained that Upamecano and his representatives maintain a firm stance during negotiations with the Bavarian club's management, as the player demands a significant increase in his annual salary along with a renewal bonus of 17 million euros, which conflicts with Bayern's current policy to limit wages.

Despite the club management's firm position, sporting director Max Eberl sees renewing the contract of the 26-year-old defender as a priority and is seeking to find a solution that satisfies all parties. Conversely, there is a trend within the club that calls for adhering to financial controls even if it results in the player leaving for free next summer.

According to 'AS', the stalemate has attracted the interest of major clubs in Europe, led by Real Madrid and Liverpool, who are closely monitoring the situation in preparation for the possibility of moving if negotiations between the player and the German club fail.

Reports indicate that Bayern's management fears that Upamecano's hardline stance is a tactic to buy time and listen to external offers, despite their confidence that the good relationship between him and the coaching staff could encourage him to stay.

Currently, negotiations remain open between the two parties, but the disagreement over financial demands keeps Upamecano's future with Bayern Munich hanging in the balance until further notice.
