Union Anticipates Defender's Return After Injury Recovery
The Saudi Union team is preparing to regain the services of its right-back Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti in the coming days, after he has made significant progress in his rehabilitation program to recover from a hamstring injury that has kept him off the field recently.
According to the Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah", Al-Shanqeeti has entered the final stage of his rehabilitation journey, in preparation for returning to participate in collective training under the supervision of the Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao.
The young player sustained the injury during the match between Union and Al-Najma in the third round of the Roshen Saudi League, which ended with the Union's victory by a goal to none, and he has since missed several official matches.
Reports have indicated that the medical staff is handling Al-Shanqeeti's return with caution, as they aim to ensure he is fully fit physically and muscularly before allowing him to participate officially, to guarantee that the injury does not recur.
Mohannad has participated in five matches this season across various competitions, scoring one goal and assisting another, including three matches in the league, in addition to a match in the King’s Cup and another in the AFC Champions League.
The Union team will play its next match against Al-Fayha on Friday, October 17, in the fifth round of the Roshen League, while the team currently occupies third place in the standings with 9 points from 4 matches.
