Barcelona Delays Christensen Contract Renewal
Saturday 11-10-2025
Barcelona faces a decisive situation regarding the future of its defender Andreas Christensen, whose contract expires in June 2026. The club's management has decided to wait before making a renewal decision, despite the coaching staff's satisfaction with his performance and level in recent times, according to Spanish newspaper 'Marca'.

The newspaper reported that Christensen, who is a key player for the Danish national team and an important alternative for coach Hans Flick in Barcelona's defense, is experiencing a state of technical and physical stability after overcoming his previous injury issues. However, the club's management has not yet initiated any official negotiations to renew his contract.

Marca clarified that Barcelona's sports management prefers to postpone the decision for several months until they can evaluate the complete picture of the defense for the upcoming 2026/2027 season, studying the player's performance and contributions as well as the options available in the transfer market.

For his part, Christensen has expressed a clear desire to remain with Barcelona, as he consistently delivers strong performances whenever he gets the chance to play, whether in La Liga or the Champions League, which is appreciated by Flick and Deco within the club.

According to Marca, both parties agree to wait before finalizing the decision, as the player wants to continue with the Catalan team, while the club wishes to ensure its technical position before making a renewal offer.
