Thursday 09-10-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that the match between Villarreal and Barcelona scheduled in Miami on December 20 as part of the 17th round of La Liga will yield substantial financial profits for both clubs and the Spanish league.

The newspaper explained that La Liga will benefit from the match both directly and indirectly, in terms of promotion, commercial income, and broadcasting rights in an active football market like the United States, where the Premier League excels in commercial and visual attendance.

The report indicated that the organizing company Relevent will guarantee the clubs profits that could reach up to 7 million euros, depending on several factors, with expectations that the earnings for both clubs will range between 5 and 7 million euros.

The report confirmed that the match has received FIFA's approval, despite the pressures some associated with Real Madrid attempted to exert to prevent it, including attempts by the Spanish Professional Football Federation.

The newspaper added that Frenkie de Jong, one of Barcelona's leaders, expressed his opposition to holding the match, while both clubs continue with preliminary preparations, with upcoming meetings to coordinate the details.
