Chelsea's Stance on Signing a New Goalkeeper and Defender
Sky Sports reported that Chelsea Football Club does not plan to sign any new goalkeeper during the next two transfer windows, nor does it intend to add any defender in the upcoming winter transfer window, given its confidence in the options currently available within the team.
According to the report, Chelsea's management believes that the three goalkeepers, Robert Sanchez, Philip Jørgensen, and Mike Benders, who is currently on loan to Strasbourg, possess sufficient quality to occupy the starting goalkeeper position, as Sanchez continues to perform strongly despite his red card against Manchester United, while Jørgensen is highly regarded within the club, and Benders continues to shine with the French team Strasbourg.
The report also indicated that Chelsea rejected the opportunity to sign goalkeeper Mike Maignan from Milan last summer, after deciding to rely on the current trio.
The same source clarified that the club does not plan to strengthen the defense, as it has a distinguished group of defenders such as Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, Badashile, and Levi Colwill, along with the return of several injured players later this season.
In another context, Chelsea's management is working to find new clubs for the duo Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi during next January, while young player Terik George is expected to leave, whereas striker Mark Guehi will continue to play with the team after his loan to Sunderland was canceled.
