English Interest in Signing Ter Stegen
Sunday 07-12-2025
Reports have indicated that German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen may be on the verge of leaving FC Barcelona during the upcoming winter transfer window in January 2026, amid increasing interest from Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle United.

The website "Football Spain" clarified that Barcelona had wanted to sell Ter Stegen during the last summer transfer market, but his back surgery prevented his departure.

The 33-year-old German goalkeeper preferred to stay at the club at that time, which caused some tension after he initially refused to sign a medical document allowing goalkeeper Juan Garcia to be registered in his place, before he later agreed and enjoyed the return of the captain's armband.

The report indicated that Barcelona is open to the idea of Ter Stegen's departure in January, whether on loan or a permanent sale, provided that his financial demands are met, especially since the club is looking to adjust its financial situation before the end of the season.

Manchester United is considered the closest to negotiating with the goalkeeper if he decides to leave, as they were among those interested in signing him last summer, but the deal did not materialize at that time.

According to the same source, Ter Stegen may be more open to a transfer next January, seeking regular participation with a new team to ensure his place in the German national team for the upcoming World Cup.
