Maysan Oil Ends Its Association with Coach Abu Zama
The administrative body of Maysan Oil Club announced on Tuesday evening the termination of the contract with Jordanian coach Abdullah Abu Zama by mutual consent, after four rounds of the Iraqi Stars League due to the team's declining results and failure to achieve the desired ambitions.
The club's management stated in an official statement: "The management of Maysan Oil Club has agreed with Jordanian coach Abdullah Abu Zama to terminate the contract between the two parties by mutual consent, after a short journey that witnessed cooperation and mutual respect, and we thank the coach for his great efforts in preparing the team and leading it during the past period."
The management added: "The decision came after a comprehensive technical study of the team's performance in the past rounds, which did not meet the level of ambition, as the goal was to achieve a strong start in the league, but the circumstances did not help in achieving the desired results despite the great work done by the coaching staff."
It continued: "The administrative body wishes coach Abdullah Abu Zama success in his upcoming coaching career and appreciates his high professionalism during his time in Maysan, wishing him greater success in his next station."
For his part, Jordanian coach Abdullah Abu Zama expressed his gratitude to the club's management and the team's fans, affirming that he found a supportive and good environment in Maysan, but he pointed out that football is not without challenges, and results dictate the continuation or departure of coaches.
Abu Zama said: "I thank the management of Maysan Oil and the players for their cooperation throughout the past period; we tried to present the best, but luck was not on our side in some matches, and I hope the team achieves the results it deserves in the upcoming rounds."
Maysan Oil team occupies the fifteenth place in the Iraqi Stars League table with 3 points after 4 rounds, having not achieved any wins so far, settling for three draws and losing one match, which hastened the decision for a technical change in search of correcting the course.
