Barcelona Sets Its Priorities for the Summer Transfer Market
Tuesday 07-10-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' reported that Barcelona's sports management has started planning for an active summer transfer market aimed at strengthening the team in key positions to ensure performance development, competitiveness, and continuity at the highest levels.

The report indicated that Deco has succeeded in achieving significant stability by renewing contracts for almost all young players, providing the club with short- and medium-term comfort, but he will be required to make important adjustments during the upcoming summer to strengthen some vital positions.

Barcelona needs to bolster its defense following the departure of Iñigo Martínez to the Saudi league, as the club seeks to sign a mid-aged, experienced left-back. Notable names include Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund and Gonzalo Inácio from Sporting Lisbon, both of whose contracts expire in 2027 and may be available soon.

The report also confirmed that the team needs to strengthen both the right and left flanks, after matches like the one against Paris Saint-Germain and Inter revealed weaknesses on the wings despite having Balde and Koundé, which prompted coach Hans Flick to emphasize the importance of reinforcing this position with a player capable of better utilizing the flanks.

The biggest challenge lies in the attack, as Robert Lewandowski is likely to leave the team or have a limited role, prompting the club to seek a top-class striker to be the team's standout star. Options may include players like Haaland, Julián Álvarez, or Lautaro Martínez, with a significant sale necessary to facilitate the deal.

The same source confirmed that these adjustments represent Barcelona's top priority in the summer transfer market to ensure team enhancement and continue competing at the highest levels.
