Barcelona.. Weak Pressing and Defensive Issues Affect Performance
Tuesday 07-10-2025
Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that Barcelona appeared at a declining level in the team's last match against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, which ended in a heavy loss of 4-1, noting that the team suffers from weak pressing on opponents and problems in the defensive axis.

The newspaper explained that the absence of players like Raphinha, Fermin, and Gavi affected the effectiveness of the pressing from the front line, negatively reflecting on the rest of the team's lines.

The report also indicated that coach Hans Flick has not yet found the ideal combination in the defensive axis after the departure of Iñigo Martínez, as the defensive duo has only repeated itself in six out of ten official matches, and the duo has not been able to complete a full 90 minutes, reflecting Flick's lack of complete confidence in the defensive choices.

The report quoted Pau Cubarsi as saying after the match: "These opportunities start from the top, and we need to start pressing like last season, we relaxed and this shouldn't happen, it's not the end of the world but it's an important turning point."

The newspaper added that Cubarsi's move to the left side to compensate for the absence of a natural defender affected his level, confirming that Barcelona needs to rearrange the lines of pressing and defense to improve performance in upcoming matches.
