In a post via the 'stories' feature on his official Instagram account, Moroccan international Naif Akard, defender for Olympique Marseille, broke his silence to speak for the first time about the sudden assault he faced at Marignane Airport near Marseille while preparing to travel to join the Moroccan national team's camp.

Akard confirmed that the incident did indeed occur, but it ended quickly thanks to the intervention of security and police, explaining in his message: "Fortunately, the incident was more frightening than actually harmful... Everything is now in the hands of the police."

The Moroccan defender added that he is in good health, sending a reassuring message to his fans, and emphasizing that his focus is currently on excelling with Marseille and proudly representing the Atlas Lions in the upcoming competitions.

Akard said: "I am now focused on what is most important to me: excelling with Olympique Marseille and representing my country with pride in the upcoming gathering."
