UEFA Approves Milan vs Como Match in Australia
Monday 06-10-2025
The European Football Association has announced its approval for the Milan vs Como match as part of the Italian league in the Australian city of Perth, in an exceptional decision despite its initial opposition to holding local league matches outside their countries.

UEFA explained, according to what was reported by the "Football Italy" website, that the decision came after lengthy consultations, noting that this case does not set a future precedent. The association confirmed that the approval to hold the match is due to the San Siro stadium being occupied by the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

In the same context, Barcelona and Villarreal received permission to hold their match in the Spanish league in Miami, USA, on December 21, 2025.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin stated that local league matches should be held within their countries, emphasizing that this decision is an exception that will not be repeated, and that the association's goal is to protect the integrity of European leagues and maintain the clubs' connection with their local fans.
