Alonso Asks Real Madrid to Monitor Liverpool Star
Monday 06-10-2025
The British newspaper 'The Mirror' reported that Real Madrid's head coach Xabi Alonso has requested the club's management to monitor the situation of German player Florian Wirtz, who plays for Liverpool, following his rocky start with the English team since his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

The newspaper indicated that Real Madrid is keeping an eye on the player in anticipation of a potential future transfer, especially since Alonso knows him well after coaching him at Leverkusen, and believes he possesses great potential that can be developed in La Liga.

Wirtz moved to Liverpool during the summer transfer window in a deal worth £116 million, but he has yet to deliver the expected performance, having participated in nine matches in the Premier League and the Champions League without scoring or assisting any goals after a positive start in the Community Shield.

The report added that the German player sat on the bench during the recent match against Chelsea before coming on in the second half and showing a good level despite his team's 2-1 loss, marking Liverpool's third consecutive defeat this season.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid continues to lead La Liga after their victory over Villarreal, while Alonso monitors Wirtz's development at Liverpool in preparation for a possible move to sign him should the English club decide to sell him in the future.
