Valverde Proves His Statements After Shining Against Villarreal

The Spanish newspaper "AS" highlighted the performance of Uruguayan star Federico Valverde, who returned to the starting lineup for Real Madrid as a right-back in the match against Villarreal, due to the absence of duo Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Although the position is not his natural one, Valverde delivered an outstanding performance, being the third most active player on the team with 91 interventions, executing the largest number of crosses (4), and excelling in ball recoveries and defensive interventions. Offensively, he contributed with two shots and provided an assist that almost turned into a goal.

Valverde had previously confirmed that he does not prefer to play in this position, but emphasized that he would give his all for the Real Madrid badge, stating: "I wasn't born to play as a right-back, but it's the coach's decision, and I am always available to serve the team."

Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the player, describing him as "the best full-back in the world, and his only problem is that he can play anywhere."

Valverde is expected to return to his natural position in midfield when Carvajal and Arnold return.
