The Cameroonian Eita Iounj, forward of Levante, has become one of the standout discoveries of La Liga this season after his remarkable performance, scoring five goals that place him third in the league's scoring chart behind Kylian Mbappé and Julián Álvarez.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Barcelona was close to signing Iounj in the final days of the last summer transfer window, but financial issues prevented the deal from being completed, despite the player showing a clear desire to join the Catalan team, confirming that he prioritizes Barcelona even though several European clubs are interested in his services.

The newspaper added that Barcelona has been monitoring the player since his time at the Cádiz academy, before moving to Villarreal, where he made his first appearance in La Liga. However, he did not receive enough playing time, leading him to later join Levante for a buyout clause of 10 million euros, which increased to 30 million euros after his impressive performance this season.

The newspaper also confirmed that Barcelona is still watching the performance of the Cameroonian forward in preparation for a potential move to sign him next summer, especially since the player himself still prefers a transfer to Barcelona if the opportunity arises.
