Araujo Rejects 4 Offers and Confirms His Desire to Stay with Barcelona
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' confirmed that Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo rejected four offers during the last summer transfer window, preferring to continue with Barcelona to achieve success in the Catalan team's jersey.
The newspaper explained that Araujo, whose contract with Barcelona runs until 2031, was targeted by several major clubs, most notably Juventus, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea, especially after the release clause in his contract dropped to 60 million euros last July.
'Sport' added that the player informed his agents of his clear desire to remain within the ranks of Barcelona, emphasizing that he wants to make up for past failures in the Champions League and succeed with the team.
The newspaper also noted that Araujo welcomed not being called up to the Uruguayan national team during the current international break in order to focus on Barcelona, as he seeks to prove himself this season under coach Hans Flick and strengthen his position in preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
